and document scanning

So let’s dig into a specific matter, or, as a matter of fact, two matters: extra drivers in Linux…and document scanning in OpenOffice. And yes, they are related. As stated before, I exclusively use Ubuntu at home (and frequently OpenSuse for projects at work), and so use word processing ,etcetera. A couple of months ago, my old HP color jet died, so I had to buy a new printer. I decided to go for a multifuntional, and found that the Canon Pixma 210 best fitted my needs. At the time, the model was quite new, so what about the drivers for that machine as printer and as scanner? Most fortunately, Canon had a driver which took me five minutes to install… and to have the functionality as described in this video. The drivers are:cnijfilter-common_2.80-1_i386.deb , cnijfilter-mp210series_2.80-1_i386.deb , and scangearmp-common_1.10-1_i386.deb  and they are available for download here. And installation is as easy as double clicking the file, entering your admin password…and off you are!

Just watch the video, and imagine how easy it is to scan, and export the scanned document  to PDF with
